Entertaiment – Something that takes you to the next world, makes you forget your worries and leaves you in a euphoric state that would last forever if only it could. A concept that can be adapted to suit different scales, from an acoustic experience for two; to banquets; parties of any size and kind; or to performances designed for thousands.
Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as a consumer activity understood objectively, that involves communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, that offers pleasure, requires an audience and is a passive form of consumption. The most common understanding of the term is humour and fun, although many examples have serious purposes including celebration, ritual and religious festival, ceremony and satire for example.
