Entertaiment

Entertaiment

The word entertain is closely linked with the idea of amusement. Its etymology traces back to the Latin intertenere, which is derived from the Indo-European root ten, meaning “to hold.” Entertainment has a long history and demonstrates a limitless capacity for creative remix. Its modalities range from individual choice among a seemingly unlimited array of pre-recorded entertainment products; to banquets adapted for two; to performances intended for thousands. Some forms of entertainment have a serious purpose, such as ceremonial activities, religious festivals, or social commentary (satire). See the article on Entertainment.
